Our lead artisan, Pete, has been creating with and installing tadelakt plaster since 2012. As one of North Americas most prolific installers, Pete has worked solo and in cooperation with artisans across the country installing and perfecting the ancient plaster, doing it right until he can’t get it wrong. This passion and dedication to the lost art of tadelakt has grown into a desire to produce tadelakt art for spaces in the home beyond just showers and bathrooms. With over 24 years experience in the trades, Pete is a passionate advocate for preservation, sustainability and locally made products.

Alexa is the founder of Urban Berber Design. Her journey began with several years of experience as an executive assistant, where she gained a deep understanding of the operations behind running a business. Outside of her professional career, Alexa has always been passionate about creating—whether through crafting or cooking, she finds immense joy in bringing ideas to life and making things that inspire happiness in others.This passion for creativity, combined with her business background, led Alexa to partner with her husband Pete, one of the country’s leading tadelakt installers. Together, they envisioned a way to expand the use of this ancient Moroccan plaster technique beyond traditional walls and architectural finishes. Their vision was to transform tadelakt into stunning furniture pieces that could be shared and loved across the globe.
